CLIMACTERIC(MENSPAUSE)

Abstract
The words "menarche" and "menopause" were meant to refer to specific points in time. The menarche is the moment the menstrual periods begin, the menopause originally referred to the moment the menstrual periods cease. The period of life during which the precise point of the menarche occurs is called puberty. The period of life during which the precise moment of the menopause occurs was originally the climacteric. There is general agreement that gonadal failure has remained the only endocrine alteration demonstrated to be characteristic of a woman¢¥s old. age.
Many women actually spend more of their lives without functioning ovaries than with them. It is in this rapid failure of gonadal function that women differ markedly from men. We believe the menopause and the menopausal state to be a disease so insidiously blended with chronological aging that there is a tendency for it to be overlooked and neglected. Certain progestogens, allied with estrogens and intelligently administered, can compensate for nature¢¥s inexplicable accident, the menopause.
